Well I made it to December, and I’m still here! I thought I’d be drawn back in to London around this time, missing the Christmas lights of the big city and the range of shops for presents. But, no I’ve thoroughly loved being around this month and enjoying a more relaxed approach to Chrstmas. It helps having made friends, I think that’s important at Christmas, and the best news is my family are coming to visit for Christmas – I can’t wait! We’re not your traditional full turkey dinner type family, but this year I’m going all out, a proper country Christmas with all the trimmings.
To get my supplies in, I’ve been visiting a few of the farmers markets, looking for local produce full of flavour. The tourist information has a great list of all the local markets. Of course I’m making the meal themed locally, for the ham I’m trying this recipe using local cider which soaks the ham overnight! I’m going down to the Christmas market in a few days to pick up some special gifts and treats.
I also managed to drag Pete to the Christmas light switch on at Taunton. This is not something I would normally have done in London, but I loved it – at first we weren’t sure as it was cold and wet, but the atmosphere was brilliant and the hot mulled wine went down a treat!
Hope you all have a great Christmas.
